Escorted by police outriders and riding in an American Mustang convertible was a long way from my early years in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire in Scotland.
The family lived in various places, both in England as well as Scotland which did nothing to kerb my urge to travel.
When I left school I joined the RAF but it was shortly after leaving the services that I got my first taste of singing in front of an audience.
I was out one evening with some friends in a lounge bar in Aberdeen, and after a few jars my mates egged me on to sing with the band playing there. Maybe the beer got to me too because, before I realised what I was doing I was singing my heart out with the band.
Now I should say here that the audience went wild with ecstasy at my wonderful voice, but to be honest it was pretty bad!
Though I did get a round of applause for getting up, my mates said the clapping was for me sitting down!
But I liked the feeling of being on a stage.
The singer of the band, a guy called Tucker Donald, gave me a lot of encouragement. Even though this was long before karaoke was invented and there were no words in front of you, I seemed to get by OK.
Anyway after that I used to ask to sing wherever we went and there was a group playing.
Not long after this I heard a band called Idol Syn were looking for a singer. So one night I turned up, sang a few numbers and became a synner too.
The band wrote their own songs and we started to get quite popular going on to record a double a sided single. On one side was a song I'd penned called Prisoner in my Heart, which was also made into a video for satellite TV.
To get more gigs all us guys from Idol Syn decided to change direction and our name...so we became a cover band calling ourselves Shades.
Shades went from strength to strength eventually becoming one of Aberdeen's top bands. We were gigging nearly every night, even though we all had daytime jobs as well, so you can imagine how knackered we were.
Eventually I left shades to form a 70,s rock band called Flame which ended up to be even more successful than Shades.
I was joined by a great young lead guitarist John, a talented great bass player Kenny, sax player Mike and my dear departed friend & drummer Johnny White.
Flame spread throughout Scotland gigging at venues everywhere, but as usual the Duncan feet got itchy again. Time for pastures new.
What better time to try out the venues in sunny Mallorca in Spain than the start of the summer season. Beaches, sun, girls, doing what I love best...and collecting a few bob as well...Heaven here I come!
My old mate and guitarist Andy who'd also joined Shades wanted to come with me.
So we came to Mallorca as a duo, and we lived my dream, except for the money bit!
We had an amazing time and stayed for 10 months being joined by Andy's brother Chris on bass.
So back to the rain and cold of Aberdeen but I'd fallen in love with Mallorca.
It didn't take long for me to realise that Mallorca was the place I wanted to be...even though I didn't make much money.
I just loved the lifestyle of Mallorca, so I left Aberdeen for good to live in Spain.
I spent the first few weeks enjoying my new life and gigged most nights in the local bars.
The owner of the Casablanca Showbar was a fellow Scots by the name of Norrie and he was only too pleased to let me up on stage.
He heard me singing Elvis songs and suggested that I do an Elvis Show.
What the hell, why not?
So I got a suit made and cut my long hair (bloody broke my heart but money calls my son)and I started by singing at the popular Pirates Show which is staged in one of the biggest venues on the island!
There I met my now long time friend Jon Farrington who was one of the Pirates and he taught me fire eating...it singes yer eyebrows but it's an instant cure for bad breath!
Anyway...Mallorca is a small island and after a couple of months the word went round about a young Scottish guy doing an Elvis Tribute and the next thing I knew me and Elvis were in demand everywhere.
I said goodbye to my friends at Pirates took my Elvis show all over the island and at last I started to make decent money, yeehaa.
After about 4 years of singing Elvis songs I changed my show to include singing tributes to different people such as Neil Diamond, Showaddywaddy, and musicals like Grease and Phantom of the Opera. Of course Elvis was still there coming on as the finale for the show.
The audiences really seemed to "feel me" in the parts I was singing so I had costumes made for everything I was doing in my show, like the teddyboy suit for Showaddywaddy, cape and mask for the Phantom for example.
I've now been in Mallorca for 14 years and still the work keeps coming in.
Since I started my new stage show here in Mallorca I have also had work in London, Germany, Los Angeles and even Las Vegas.
As you'll see from the celeb photos page I've met some great people and had a fantastic time.
In 2002 I was in a competition in Las Vegas with over 2000 Elvis Tribute Acts and some great singers.
I got into the semi finals and was really happy with that, but when I eventually came in 3rd place I was over the moon.
It was a great experience singing with a full orchestra and band, with an audience of about 3000 Elvis fans... what a noise...what an experience...they went wild.
